Every three years Zurich throws a party for itself for no discernible reason except that it seems like the thing to do. The highlight of this is a couple of nights of pretty damn good fireworks. The weather, which had been crap all week had started to clear up, so I thought I might try and get some decent pictures with my camera.

But first, we went to Eduardo's place for some excellent jamón y queso (plus a couple of beers and even a little malbec). It was an excellent repast.

Stuffed to the gills we poured into town, caught up with a few more friends and engaged in some general silliness. Somebody bought Franzi a funny looking drink, which she decided to hang on to (just in case).

Down by the lake we joined the heaving crowds and watched a fantastic fireworks show (accompanied by classical music being blared across the city). Ka-boom! Ka-boooom!

After the last shooting stars had fallen into the lake we were all feeling quite overcome. Lara and Franzi enaged in a spontaneous bout of hyperkissing with ... everyone I think. Some poor bystanders got mercilessly snogged but nobody important was badly injured.

We then moved on to dance to some live music.

Feeling a bit weary, Leila and I agreed around 1.30am that we had better start the long walk home. Great night!
